New year, New you? No way!

Every year come this time we’ve become accustomed to making ‘New year’s resolutions’ for ourselves. Usually, this is something quite vague as goals go, usually diet or gym-based (and a bit dull) and most people definitely have a hard time sticking to them. This isn’t really a great setup to the new year, and besides who wants to start the year on a fad diet?!

The idea of a ‘new year, new you’ on paper might seem like you’re trying to make positive changes, but usually, these goals are unrealistic and just lead to disappointment and self-doubt. Obviously, this then has a knock-on effect on people’s mental health, the pressure of maintaining unrealistic and usually unnecessary goals only leads to burnout, and with the last few years we’ve had we should be taking the pressure off ourselves not pilling it back on.

There’s no need for a ‘New you’, you’re great the way you are, despite what the media like to throw at us this time of year!

So why not try something new this new year, and make your resolution something to look forward to in the new year, something for yourself? Is there something you’ve wanted to do but not had a reason to try?

Somewhere you’ve always wanted to visit but not had a chance?

For me, I’ve never ridden on the beach! So my New years resolution is to take Ruben to the beach and have a nice gallop along the sand!

So whether it’s to get out somewhere new or to make more time for yourself take a positive step in 2024 and do something nice for yourself and your mental health.
